This building was built in 1828. There are many ruins in the area Greece is full of history.
The area where we had lunch, by the port. Every city has its own acropolis (hill) with some ruin of religious significance on top.
Outside the city is cyclops wall.
Earlier we passed over the Corinth canal. This enables shipping to avoid going around the Paloponese peninsula.
This is a very deep canal. It takes huge oil tankers, and the water is 8 m deep. The road passes over it at this point. It was built in 1896. However this was planned since 500 b c. The Romans carried ships through here as the alternative around it hugely dangerous. It is the width across and depth of the panama and suez canals., but only 7km long.
Here you can see all the way down the canal.
The streets here are all paved with marble, b good it's not raining it would be lethal, but very permanent.
